Mark
Vb Director's Viewfinder
In 1978, Alan Gordon Enterprises began making
its own version of the viewfinder, in particular one that
covered a 10:1 zoom range . We named this new product the
Mark IV Director's Viewfinder, and its introduction
in 1979 to the filmmaking community heralded the beginning
of the modern-day director's viewfinder. In addition to
its 10:1 zoom range, the Mark IV featured windows the director
could look into and see the lens focal length he was considering.
The windows represented 16, 35 &35 anamorphic formats
and gave the cinematographer instant information about lens
focal length and scene framing.
In 1987, Alan Gordon Enterprises introduced the Mark
V Director's Viewfinder. It featured a12:1 zoom range
with a wider angle capability and two additional windows
covering Super 16, 1/2" & 2/3" video formats.
Today, over 16,000 MarkV and Vb Director's Viewfinders are
in use by directors, cinematographers, videographers and
location scouts around the world. This contribution to the
art of cinematography has been recognized by both the Academy
of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and the Television
Academy of Arts & Sciences with awards for technical
achievement.

GYRO STABILIZERS |
Knowing
that camera movement destroys image sharpness but that profitable
pictures are often made on the run, smart pros seek a compromise
between tripod and handheld exposures.
Numerous portable supports exist, but even if a stationary
object can be found on location, critical shots can be lost
in the time needed to set up. Minimum clarity sometimes depends
on use - a soft image being acceptable, say, for news but
not evidence work - but when the maximum percentage of tack-sharp
handheld shots are needed, the gyro stabilizer is in order.
Enter the Kenyon Gyro Stabilizer, a small, battery-powered,
pod-like case that screws into a tripod socket and "floats"
the camera in free space with only its weight supported by
your hands. The device is maintenance free, works with any
camera, spotting scope or binocular and, best of all, retains
the freedom and speed of handheld shooting.
The Kenyon is an ingenious applicaiton of basic physics, creating
the "invisible tripod", where space for a real one
is just not practical. |
