Slate works great!
After reading many reviews about other slates, I hesitated about this one also. However, the slate remains solid. I have no problems with erasing what I wrote. It is sturdy, thick and it has a good claping sound. (no pun intended) lol.
It’s going to be with me for a looooong time. It seems pricey, but it’s going to last.

Best Slate I’ve Used Yet
I’m not an expert on slates by any means, but I do know what it should be able to do. The Alan Gordon slate is easily the best I’ve used so far. It’s lightweight, durable, and really well-made. It came in it’s own zipper carrying case with an Expo brand dry erase marker.
Unlike other, cheaper slates I’ve used, the clapper itself is made of very lightweight wood that gives it a really clean snap.
It’s nothing fancy, but it does simplicity well. I’d recommend this to anyone.

Fully satisfied so far
I’ve had this for a few weeks and 2 5 hours shoots so far. Works great. Sturdy wood and joints. Nice loud sound. Magnet to keep it from flapping. Whiteboard works nicely. No real complaints.

sturdy and affordable
The hinge is solid and well built and the board itself is very well designed. Used for the first time during the scifi film shootout here in Roswell and after so many claps from newbie 2nd ACs that don’t respect other people’s equipment its still going strong.

Good quality product
Just got done using my new slate clapboard on a shoot and I’m very satisfied with it. The construction is quite good and it makes a loud clap aided by two magnets. I would highly recommend this clapper if you want one that is well-made and seems like it would last for years. The only problem I had was that the gal who was doing the clapping was short and had to hold the clapboard over her head at times so the camcorder could see it. I hardly feel this was the fault of the manufacturer. 😉 Great product.
